Students Rohit Sharma, Suneet Kaur Gosal and Krupa Roy from University of California, Davis worked on their project of helping a Non profit. They chose gift of vision as their mission and went to Sikh Temple, West Sacramento, California. They were very dedicated to the task and worked hard and raised $ 800 at their fundraising. These funds have been donated to Sahaita organization for its Gift of Vision program. Sahaita organization is very appreciative of their effort and help. We are thankful to these students and the faculty member who helped them for such a noble act and, choosing a great cause. We know how much those poor patients who get the gift of vision appreciate such kindness. The rewards of this program are visible within few hours. This money is being used to help the young kids as we feel they benefit the most as they have whole life ahead of them.
Sahaita held various medical camps in India. We held eight camps; six in Punjab and one each in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. The team had lot of fun and worked very hard. Days started at 5am and ended at 11pm. The response from public was oevrwhelming and above expectations and the team from USA really put in all they could to make a difference. Sahaita foundation of Canada held its third annual fundraiser at the Grand Taj Banquet Hall in Surrey, Canada on the 18th of July, 2008. Nearly 500 hundred people packed this hall and enjoyed the whole program. Sahaita held a medical camp at Lodi, CA.
We held a Health awareness clinic at the premises of Gurdwara Sahib in Modesto-ceres, California. We saw close to 100 Patients and screened them for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and obesity problems. Healthcare staff including the Physicians, Pharmacist and Nutritionist were there to guide them and make them aware of changes in lifestyle and diet. Most common problem was High blood pressure and diabetes was also major problem. The growing need of the health problem solutions and uninsured elders is a concern. It is our feeling that bad food choices and lack of physical work is also leading to growing obesity among Indians which few years ago was not a problem. On Father's Day we held a medical camp at the San Jose Gurdwara. We saw close to 130 patients who were given routine checkups for obesity, hypertension, and diabetes. Sahaita held a medical camp in Yuba City, CA.
A group from a Public Magnet School in New Jersey held a fundraiser for Sahaita. Every year they do a function and proceeds go to a charity and this year they picked Sahaita. This was the first time children from a school did this for Sahaita and infact first time some one has taken this step. They were able to raise $1400 in donations from their cultural Hungama show. Medical camp at Gurdwara Sahib Hayward: as in the past with active help from the Gurdwara management Sahaita organization’s members participated in this health awareness clinic. Pt had routine checkup for obesity, hypertension, diabetes and also had vision check up as well. As usual at all these camps lot of patients find out first time that they are either borderline diabetic or Hypertensive and need to loose weight. Patients were waiting for the camps bright and early in the morning. We are thankful to the management committee to have always given us chance to hold these biannual camps at this Gurdwara.
Medical camp at West Sacramento Gurdwara Sahib: On this religious day of Vaisakhi in Sikh religion at a short notice a medical camp was organized after approval from the Gurdwara management. Pts were screened for various diseases like, Obesity, Hypertension and Diabetes. Literature was distributed for the health education and awareness about various common diseases. Management was thankful for this activity and wanted Sahaita to do another camp in near future so can it can be more publicized and more people can avail of this opportunity.
Medical camp at Gurdwara Sahib, Stockton, California
Sahaita inc. members with active help from the members of the Gurdwara management organized this health awareness clinic on day which was part of multiple activities at the GuruGhar. Patients were tested for blood pressure, weight, blood sugar and few had cholesterol checked. Educational material was distributed to the public regarding health education and awareness of various diseases.

We did a camp at Bogue Road Gurdwara In Yuba City. We examined 65 patients and 90% of them had medical problems including Diabetes and Hypertension. They were educated about these illnesses and some of them who did not have medical insurance were referred to local county health clinic.People really appreciated our taking time in helping them learn about their health status.Dr. Harkesh Sandhu, Gurpreet Johal, Virinder Johal, Harinder johal, Aman johal, Kashmir Kaur ,Satin Khera, Sunny Sekhon, Gagandeep Kandola,Ranjit Johal and Dr. NT Singh and few other volunteer from U C Davis helped in organizing this health awareness clinic.

Despite the freezing cold weather, Sahaita's volunteers were able to successfully hold a medical camp in Livingston, CA. Patients were screened for cholesterol, diabetes, and blood pressure. We had a great turnout and new volunteers. We are pleased that our first health camp of the year 2007 was successful.
