The new Sehatnama was also introduced to the board members, which have more chapters and broader approach to different areas of health care with inclusion of dental health, and yoga exercises beside healthy living. A good friend of Sahaita members ,Mr. Jadwinder Singh from Distt. Moga distributed 1000 copies of health education booklet Sehatnama at a function run by their family trust.
New version of Sehatnama (Sahaita’s Booklet of Preventative medicine in Punjabi) has been printed. This will cover broad range of topics including role of Exercise, Yoga and Alternative medicine remedies and covers important diseases, which are prevalent in India. Booklet also describes how to safeguard and take care of simple problems and when to seek advise of a Physician. The book will be distributed at Medical camps and on demand and donations from Individuals and other organizations.
Sahaita Inc. members in coordination with Kaiser Hospital, Fremont and Alameda county health care services staff members with help of Fremont Sikh Temple organized Free Health awareness and screening camp at Sikh Gurdwara, Fremont, California. Hundreds of elderly and needy were screened for High blood pressure, weight, Blood sugar, cholesterol. All those who were in need of Flu shots were vaccinated for that. Doctor’s and Paramedical staff were on hand to help those who were found to have abnormal blood work and had questions regarding their diseases and its care. Sahaita members also distributed educational material for prevention and management of various disease processes.
Free Health awareness and eye Camp, Raipur Sagnewal, and Distt. Jallandhar, Punjab, India
A free medical camp was organized and nearly 250 patients were screened for various diseases and had check up for diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure byDr. Harkesh Singh Sandhu .All those patients who needed medication were given free medication and told to follow up with regular physician in the area when they run out of medications. We also distributed health education material in Punjabi including the Sehatnama. At this camp people from nearly 10 surrounding villages were examined. Dr.Rajinder Singh saw the patients who needed eye examination and 12 patients who needed Cataract and other eye surgery were told to come to Ludhiana by special taxicab next day and received free eye surgery by latest technology.

Members of Sahaita organized a Free Medical and Eye examination Camp at Chinaur, Distt. Kangra in Himachal Pardesh. There were nearly 400 patients evaluated and screened for Diabetes, High cholesterol, Blood pressure and other diseases and were given free medications By Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Santosh and Dr. Harkesh Singh Sandhu. More than 50 patients were found to have Cataract and were brought by special bus to Ludhiana. They received free Cataract surgery with folding lens implants using the latest Phaco-emulsification technique by Dr. Rajinder Singh and his staff. Post -operatively these patients were seen in Chinaur at by Dr. Rajinder Singh and his staff to make sure the surgeries were successful. This was the 14th year for the eye camp at this site, which is a very remote area, and patients sometime traveled very long distances to avail of this opportunity. Sehatnama the Hindi version was distributed free of cost to the patients.

Project Bal Bhawan:
During this visit to India Dr. Harkesh Sandhu and Dr. Rajinder Singh from Ludhiana, India spent quality time with the children at Bal Bhawan and School for the deaf. Following improvements were done at the Bal Bhawan:
1. Bal Bhawan rooms for the children were repaired and painted with attractive colors keeping in mind Boys and Girls rooms.
2. All the broken windows, vents and doors were repaired and painted to give a new look to the building.
3. Rooms were decorated with matching curtains over the windows and doors.
4. New beds with brand new bed sheet sets were made available to match the walls and curtains in the rooms.
5. All the wiring in the building was made child proof and covered inside and outside the rooms.
6. Additional lighting and Fans installed in the building to make rooms brighter and for children to be able to get comfort in summer and during studying.
7. The rooms were decorated with wall mounted Inspirational pictures.
8. A special Recreational room was made with new furniture including chairs, sofa sets and audiovisual equipment. The Korean War Veterans from the Concord, California branch of the organization, donated the money for this recreational room.
9. A library book cabinet and books were provided for the children to learn and enjoy during free time.
10. New aluminum cabinet placed in the Bal Bhawan office and its couches repaired and steam cleaned.
11. Bal bhawan kitchen has been provided with extra lighting, exhaust fan, dinning and the stairs area had extra lighting put in to make it well lighted.
12. We are paying supplemental income to the caretaker and actively recruiting for extra help with care taking and sweeping.
School for the Deaf:
Sahaita has repaired the broken windows, glasses on the windows and wiring in the school also secured and made safe for the children. The rooms in school also received wall mounted inspirational pictures and educational material. A room was created for audiovisual displays for the children with wall mounted Television and DVD player. The school was also given educational material like American Sign Language books, CD-rom and DVD’s beside other helpful special educational stuff used in America.
A Teacher day celebration was organized with the help of local Lions club at the school for the deaf. Children from school for the deaf and Primary school at the Bal Bhawan complex participated in this and displayed their talent in front of their parents and the lion’s club and senior citizen home residents. Students and teachers were honored for their contributions. Lions club Ludhiana chapter has offered to celebrate such events in future as their contribution looking at what Sahaita organization as NGO (NRI’s) has been doing for promoting these facilities.
Members of Sahaita actively helped Sikh temple, Fremont raise funds for the Katrina disaster relief. The funds were collected as joint effort by Sikh organizations locally and about $25000 was raised and member of Gurdwara committee went to Houston to help the efforts to feed the needy.
"An Evening of Unique Entertainment and Dinner" fundraiser, which was held at Beautiful Rosewater hall, San Jose, California on June 19th, 2005 (Father's Day).
Sahaita is organizing a fund raiser, "An Evening of Unique Entertainment and Dinner" for June 19th, from 4-8 p.m. at Rosewater Hall.

Sahaita is currently distributing "Sehatnama" a booklet that describes some diseases and how to help prevent them. The booklet will be distributed free throughout Punjab at medical camps. With more donations, the booklet can be distributed throughout Punjab.
There are over 50 children at the Red Cross Bal Bhawan in Ludhiana comprising of deaf and dumb, orphans, leprosy-afflicted children and children from poor families. They are cared for by an 80 year old care-taker. They live in an area without a proper gate or any type of security. Sahaita have already added a gate to the Bal Bhawan and are currently working on getting proper care for the children, as well as building a library and recreation room.

Sahaita along with local organizations actively helped in holding a very successful health awareness clinic at the Fremont Gurdwara Sahib in Fremont California. We distributed preventative health educational material and gave awareness about serious illnesses. One of our main goals is to bring awareness of Preventative medicine within the Indian community.

Sahaita helped Gurdeep from Ludhiana. She was in need of a Renal
Transplant and her mother was willing to donate a kidney, however there wasn't
enough money to actually perform the operation. With the help of Sahaita and
the donations it received, they were able to make the operation happen, and
Gurdeep was given a chance of life.

A Tsunami Disaster Fund raiser was held at Raja Sweet's in
Hayward California. With the kind donation of the venue and food, Sahaita
was able to help raise money that was sent overseas to help the victims of
the tragic Tsunami Disaster that occurred on December 26, 2004.
