Medical Camp Khatkar Kalan, Nawan Shahar Oct 6th,2007
Sahaita Organization with support from the Sangat of Fremont Sikh Temple organized a medical camp at the Village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh ji to mark the first birth anniversary of this martyer.Over 500 patients from surrounding areas availed of the opportunity to see specialists from various specialities beside getting the free medications, Eye glasees prescriptions and tests including blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol , Ekg. Dr. Rajinder Singh ( Eye),Dr. Upninder jit Singh ( Jogi) Neurology and psychiatry, Dr.Gagandeep Singh ( Orthopedic), Dr. Kuldeepak Kular ( Surgery, Dr. Harkiran Kular ( Obst and Gynae), Dr. Davinder Singh Chahal ( Orthopedic), Dr. Harkesh Singh Sandhu ( Medicine and ENT), Dr. Manju from Guru Arjun Dev hospital Banga participated in this Health awareness and medical camp.Alarge number of patients of this area have had their eye surgeres done and few have general surgeries being done. Sarpanch Kewal Singh Ji, Master Des Raj, Sardar Satnam Singh Shergill, Balbir Singh Bedi and few other from local area played a great reole in helping organize this camp. Little children from local school wearing badges of the great martyer were on hand to serve Tea and Snacks to the patients while they waited for the appointment. Special edition of Sehatnama was released here to mark this historic year dedicated by organization to Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji.
Medical Camp Chinaur, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh
The second camp in this chain of medical camps by Sahaita was help on October 7th and 8th.This was 3rd year for sahaita to hold this camp at this location. A very remote and backward area but very humble and loving community.Dr. Rajinder singh, Dr. Upninderjit Singh ( Jogi), Dr. Santosh, Dr. Satish Ohri , Dr. Surinder Singh from Gagret and Dr. Harkesh Singh Sandhu were on hand to check and serve these patients numbering over 800. Eye glasees prescriptions and tests including blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol , Ekg were done and free medication and sehatnama was distributed. Nearly 65 patients got eye surgeries in the last week of October. This Local Sahaita group of the area did wonderful job of serving all patients with Langar and tea and we are always proud of their services. People of local village have offered Land for Sahaita to open a senior center cum orphanage in this area. Sahaita organization is looking into this proposal and details will be worked out if agreed upon by the management.
Medical Camp Kishangarh Channa, Ludhiana
This camp on 10th and 11th October, 2007 was third in the series and second year at this place to mark the memory of Sant Kirpal Singh Ji. The camp was organized by NRI’s of this village in Canada/USA and Australia. S.Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal and his wife, S MP Singh from Canada along with S. Lachman Singh Mangat and daughter Simmi Mangat from USA and S Satjit Singh Dhaliwal from Australia along with his wife joined Shabba and his family in Village to help with this camp. Close to 800 patients participated in this camp and were able to see the different Provider’s of Sahaita organization. Over 75 patients got eye surgeries done at Rajinder Hospital, Pakhowal Road Ludhiana. Blood sugar. Blood pressure, Cholesterol, Hemoglobin, prescription for eye glasses, free glasses and medications along with EKG testing was done as routine for all camps. Two girls age 13 and 17 were found to be severely anemic and jaundiced and unable to afford any medical treatment and they were tested at Ludhiana and treatment for their illness is being taken care of by Chacha ji and Chachiji of S. Gurmeet singh Dhaliwal. The NRI sabha Punjab team were on hand to look at the work and efforts of NRI’s and Sahaita organization with such dedicated volunteer’s in its wing’s. Dr. Jogi’s brother’s family came from Amritsar to help out with this camp along with Dr. Rupinder Kaur a dentist from Amritsar. Availability of S. Avtar Singh at all hours of day and night to take the team back and forth and patients to and from Ludhiana is worth mentioning.
Medical camp Burj Dunne ke, Moga , Punjab
On October 13 and 14th S. Resham Singh Gill and his family from Canada sponsored this medical camp with active support from Sahaita organization. This camp was in held in memory of Sant Babba Gurdit Singh Ji for the people of this area. People from nearly 18-20 villages from Punjab were among close to 1000 patients who came there to get a chance to have a thorough check up. Few hundred people with non urgent issues had to be turned away due to lack of time. Blood sugar. Blood pressure, Cholesterol, Hemoglobin, prescription for eye glasses, free glasses and medications along with EKG testing was done as routine for all camps. S. MP Singh and S. Gurmeet Singh Dahliwal from Canada played active role in this camp as well. Over 52 eye surgeries of this camp were completed last Friday ( Oct 26th ).We will like to acknowledge the support from S. Kulwinder Singh Dhaliwal from Fremont and his family in letting us use services of Hospital at Lohara and to have the patients needing follow up care go to that hospital for medical needs.
Medical camp at Padiala for Mentally and Physically disabled patients
This facility on Kharrar / Kurali road located 2-3 kilometer from Kurali is home to some of much traumatized and physically and mentally disabled human beings. It also looks after abandoned children and elderly persons. Dr. Upninder Singh jogi who specializes in such patients visited this place and examined patients on October 12th and Dr. Harkesh Singh Sandhu did so on October 16th. Free medications were provided to the facility for these patients and those needing extra care were referred to other places. We salute the efforts of S. Samsher Singh and his associates for the dedication and zeal with which they look after these challenging patients. We look forward to future cooperation with facility as it is like a small Pingalwara which is trying to do its best despite the difficulties with donations and Red tape of the government. Medical camp at Latala, Ludhiana (Oct 18th and 19th)
S Jagdish Singh Khangurra and his family organized this medical and eye camp to mark the 5th anniversary of his beloved wife who passed away at young age due to medical illnesses. S. Jagdish Singh is the Grandson of very well known Freedom fighter Kartar Singh Dukki and has been serving his village and community quiet well. This cap was help at the government clinic and in these two days 657 patients availed them self of the services provided. It was astonishing to see the number of hypertensive and patients with allergies at this place. Patients were checked for Blood sugar, Blood pressure, Cholesterol, Hemoglobin, prescription for eye glasses, free glasses and medications. Over 50 patients will get cataract surgery with lens implants. S. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal and MP Singh from Canada, Lachman Singh Mangat and his daughter Simmi from USA helped to facilitate the patient flow and vitals.
Medical camp at Chokran, Ludhiana (October 20th)
This was the seventh camp during the Sahaita Inc USA and Sahaita foundation Canada stay in India. This also happens to be village of one of Sahaita member Kulwinder Singh ( Dr. Rajinder Singh’s Assistant) who helps a great deal and work with all the patients pre and post surgery. Nearly 300 patients from small surrounding villages came to get treatment. S. Balbir Singh Sandhu made sure everyone who came had tea and snacks. We saw lot of young children and teenagers at this camp. All the surgeries of this camp will be done in November.
